Asst. Infrastructure Manager (Job Number:405710)
Description:
SAIC has a contingent need for an Asst. Infrastructure/Network Manager responsible for a large IT outsourcing program at a local university in Washington DC. The program provides comprehensive infrastructure outsourcing and the position of Network and Infrastructure Manager will required day to day presence onsite at the university to work with university, partner and SAIC stakeholders over the course of a five year program—moving responsibility of supporting the Infrastructure and Program management and total lifecycle management of data center, network, telecom, security, service desk and applications from the University stakeholders to the SAIC team.
Support the Infrastructure Manager in execution of the day-to-day management of the University IT Infrastructure to ensure that SLR’s are met, and that all university voice and network servers and other infrastructure devices are properly managed. Forecasting and planning long-term refresh programs should be done in coordination with the University Chief Information Office. The asst. Infrastructure services manager will work closely with the infrastructure and applications services managers to ensure planning for storage and expansion is also addressed.. Specific responsibilities of the Asst. Network and Infrastructure Manager include:
1. monitoring contractual activities with the University Infrastructure
Execution of the following:
2. Regular status meetings to address Change Management Issues and identify needs for the current fiscal year.
3. Recommend standards and policies and procedures working with the Chief Information Officer and other Executive leadership as needed.
4. Ensure that operational and technical plans are supported and aligned with strategic and business plans for the enterprise and the departments.
5. Update meetings with the Chief Information Officer for guidance on planned roll-outs, refresh, and new devices for departments or in fulfillment of the ETS planning goals.
6. Oversee QA, project management, and systems testing for infrastructure portions of projects.
7. Review recommendations for 3rd party suppliers of information technology devices.
8. Regular meetings with the Chief Information Officer to ensure projects are scoped with the best solutions and include working with the Application Services Manager for DBA or other resource requirements.
9. Regular meetings with the Project Management Office, BRMs and departments to ensure technology projects or new implementation requests are properly prioritized and will meet all statutory needs and technology requirement standards

Responsible for oversight and management of 5 data center facilities that provide the requisite data center systems, including security controls, network infrastructure, building systems and redundant power systems.

The Disaster Recovery strategy is designed to ensure the continuation of vital processes in the event that a disaster occurs (i.e., core systems “Email, Banner, PeopleSoft, Web Application”). This strategy will provide an effective solution that can be used to recover all vital business process within the required time frame using vital records that are stored off-site. The strategy is just one of several strategies that will provide the infrastructure and procedures to handle emergency situations.
The Asst. Network and Infrastructure Senior Manager will have 18-10 years of experience and will be capable of managing a moderate risk program, comprised of a series of related projects with a common customer objective. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, executing, monitoring, and controlling major aspects of the network and infrastructure requirements of the program, including operating and capital budget execution and preparation, securing funding, and project execution. ; interfaces with named peer leads for Transition, Transformation and Applications, as well as university stakeholders, task and functional managers, subcontractors, support personnel, and other stakeholders; serves as the primary technical interface to the customer. Has initial financial management responsibility and experience to develop IT budgets and forward to Sr. Infrastructure and Network Mgr.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent as a minimum, Master’s preferred, and 8-10 years of proven experience in delivering IT networking projects to local government customers and developing new related business is required. Project Management certification PMP® and ITIL V3 or other equivalent certifications is highly desirable.
Qualifications
The Asst. Infrastructure Manager should have 8-10 years experience and a network infrastructure or Managed Services background, with demonstrated experience in large scale remote infrastructure hosting either in the university, state, local or commercial environments. Network and Infrastructure Manager will work closely with the Executive Program Manager to ensure schedules are executed, and work closely with current university stakeholders for the following disciplines: Data Center, Voice and Telephony, Help Desk, Public Private and Hybrid Clouds experience helpful.
