FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER for Strategic Weapons System (SWS) Ashore job available at CAPE CANAVERAL AIR FORCE STATION (CCAFS), FL.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Service Engineer – SWS Ashore will support the test facility department by developing SWS Ashore processes, procedures, and documentation associated with testing Ohio and Ohio replacement systems. Once SWS Ashore facility is operation the position will include SWS Ashore operational support, SWS Ashore Test Support, and SSBN on-site test support.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be available for and willing to participate in at-sea testing up to 6 times per year and for durations of up to two weeks at a time (~25% annually). They must also be able/willing to travel routinely between Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and TRIDENT Strategic Weapons Facilities.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree from an accredited institution OR valid High School diploma or GED with formalized military technical training and 7-9 years of knowledge and experience with SSBN systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must wear personal protection devices (i.e. hard hats, safety shoes, eye and ear protection, etc.) and able to climb ladders, working on and around SWS electronics equipment, walking within submarine base industrial areas, and on board SSBN’s in refit conditions.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with SSBN processes and SWS operations/maintenance.
• Detailed knowledge of and experience with TRIDENT Submarine missions and operations.
• Advanced SWS system or subsystem training.
• Knowledge of and experience with SWS standard operating and Maintenance procedures knowledge and experience.
• A self-starter with the ability to function remotely with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated excellence with verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to operate independently and effectively in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to apply/extrapolate from existing knowledge and experience to complete difficult and complex assignments and when standard processes, guidelines and/or procedures fail or are insufficient.
• Confidence to offer new/bold innovative solutions where none exist, while maintaining a professional and courteous manner.
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Extensive knowledge of SWS overhaul and maintenance periods.
• Detailed knowledge of submarine calibration procedures
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and application to SWS
• SWS Electronics "A" School or equivalent
• Advanced technical "C" School training or equivalent
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and/or facilities.
