SAIC has an opportunity available for a Server & Storage Lead on our team in Kansas City, MO.
DUTIES:
The Server & Storage Lead provides server, storage, and backup administration supervision and support for the Risk Management Agency (RMA) within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
- In this role you will engineer, implement and support complex IT systems and solutions that enable the agency to leverage new technologies which enhance productivity, reliability, and performance.
- System administration for the following technologies (MS Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, 3PAR Storage, Brocade switches, Citrix, and Commvault Simpana 10) is required.
- The candidate will also provide level II support for RMA end-users, by resolving complex issues on our core applications/systems.
- You will be expected to occasionally work after-hours to perform system maintenance or resolve problems, and will be required to carry an on-call phone.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Telecommunications, and 6+ years of experience in a broad range of assignments, supporting technologies directly related to the proposed area of responsibility.
The successful candidate must possess 6+ years of experience managing an IT team, and 5+ years administering MS Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, and have extensive Active Directory experience.
- Extensive experience supporting server hardware, networked printers, storage area networks, storage arrays, CITRIX, Commvault, DNS, DHCP, and backup solutions is also desired.
- The ideal candidate will also have experience supporting MS Hyper-V virtual hosts and virtual servers/guests.
- Employment requires the candidate to successfully pass a government NACI background investigation and drug screening.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- The successful candidate should possess a Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) certification.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft products including MS Windows Server, Active Directory, and MS Office applications is required.
- The Systems Administrator must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, combined with strong customer service skills.
- Excellent problem- solving abilities are also required, as complex issues must be resolved in a timely manner.
- The candidate must be a self-starter, eager to learn, with a solid work ethic.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with 3PAR storage, Brocade switch administration, virtual server administration, Citrix administration, and Commvault Simpana backup software is desired.
- Experience with complex network architecture would also be beneficial.
- You should also be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- One or more of the following IT certifications are also desirable for this position: Windows Server 2012, Microsoft MCTS: Virtualization, and/or CompTia Network+.
