SAIC has a contingent job opportunity for a Senior Safety Engineer. This position will be located in Washington DC.

The Senior Safety Engineer performs safety analysis tasking in areas such as aircraft systems, avionics, UASs, and in the surface, terminal, and en route domains. Develop safety analyses in accordance with the Air Traffic Organization Safety Management System (SMS) including, Operational Safety Assessments, Comparative Safety Assessments, System Hazard Analyses, Preliminary Hazard Analyses, Safety Risk Management Documents and other SMS documentation as required. Facilitate safety panels of subject matter experts to develop SMS products, and perform functional analysis to describe systems and operations of interest. Analyses may require systems engineering expertise as well as subject matter expertise related to NextGen concepts and NAS operations.

Qualifications

:
Basic Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in aeronautics, computer science, engineering, or similar discipline from an accredited college or university or five (5) years experience in lieu of degree. In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of 12 years of direct experience.

Demonstrated knowledge of FAA policies and organizational structure including knowledge of the NCPs, ACs, AMS, and other FAA processes. Knowledge of FAA Airspace design, structure, and functionality. Ability to support producing technical briefings and documents communicating findings in MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project. Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Can show experience of working well independently and in team settings, with minimal oversight. Can show experience in writing and designing test plans, and documenting results.

Desired Skills and Experience

Experience working on FAA systems including communications systems, FAA datalink systems, G-BAS, ASMGCS, ASDE-X, ASSC, ADS-B, RWSL, TFDM, S-CDM, FS21, DUATS, and/or OASIS. Experience supporting FAA programs throughout the AMS lifecycle, including shortfalls analysis, concept of operations, functional analysis, cost-benefit analysis, prototype fielding, and development of enterprise architecture products.
