Solutions Architect/Chief Engineer (Job Number:405029)
Description:
We are currently looking for a Solutions Architect/Chief Engineer to lead the AMC Agile Development contract, supporting the US Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott AFB, IL, to develop, deliver, test, and field various applications in support of AMC's shift to an Enterprise Agile software construction methodology to manage its portfolio of air mobility command and control (C2) projects, programs, application, and infrastructure. SAIC and its teammates will elicit requirements from the AMC’s mission planning/execution community, then utilize Agile development, secure application development, and information assurance best practices to test, field, certify/accredit and support software in support AMC’s global airlift, air refueling, aeromedical evacuation, and mission support tasks.
The Solutions Architect/Chief Engineer establishes system information requirements using analyses of the information engineers when developing enterprise wide or large-scale information systems. Determines and identifies high-level functional and technical requirements on the basis of interactions with the user community and knowledge of the enterprise architecture. Designs architectures, including the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements, as well as to accommodate present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Identifies, assesses, and presents options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades. Develops high-level system design diagrams. Ensures these systems are compatible and compliant with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards, such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model, as they apply to the implementation and specification of an information management (IM) solution of the application platform, across the application program interface (API), and to the external environment or software application. Ensures that the common operating environment is compliant. Analytically and systematically evaluates problems of workflows, organization, and planning, and develops appropriate corrective actions. Provides daily supervision and direction to staff.
Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience with a minimum of 8 years of experience. Advanced degree in related technical field desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Agile development processes
- Experience working in a DoD software development environment
- Experience in air mobility mission planning and/or familiarity with 618th Air & Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center) mission sets.
