Sr. Systems Engineer (Job Number:405464)
Description:
The position will be responsible for providing technical evaluation and recommendations for the required corrective actions for SSTD-related combat systems casualties in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and all other applicable Navy Maintenance Procedures;
- draft Technical Assistance Visit Reports upon completion of corrective actions;
- assist in the disassembly, reassembly, installation and testing of the SSTD-related combat systems onboard all classes of surface ships;
- and provide support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications.
Plan and coordinate the efforts to verify that all Standard Items, Local Standard Items, Specifications, and Process Control Procedures (EPCP’s) employed in the conduct of the maintenance on critical systems are technically correct.
Responsible for maintaining and tracking the status, prioritization, review documentation and storage (in an electronic library) of all EPCP’s.
Review and evaluate engineering aspects of the Quality Management Program (QMP) of all organizations responsible.
Responsible for ensuring the proposed maintenance on critical systems are in place and adequate for work being performed as well as for maintaining a sound technical oversight of the QMP
Plan, coordinate, monitor and assess a Self-Audit program and Engineering Compliance Program regarding engineering processes as well as Maintenance Team Process.
Conveys technical information to appropriate levels of management to ensure timely concise and relevant information flow for the purpose of socialization of technical issues that potentially pave political, operational, or other impact to the naval community.

Aspects include: Installation of GFE systems, in-service maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair, documentation and logistics support, operating material and supplies control, land-based and at-sea testing support and training military personnel on SSTD systems.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited
four-year college or university and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the field. 3 of the years’ experience must include knowledge of relationships, policies, and procedures for NSSA/RMCs/ FTSCLANT, NAVSEA, PERA/SURFMEPP, Naval Shipyards, and Type Commande
- Must have excellent communication skills to interface with numerous Engineering and Trades organizations, and ship’s force leaders and work with minimal supervision
- Good technical writing and organizational abilities
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles related to Shipyard work and testing
- Technical knowledge and the ability to apply NAVSEA Ship Overhaul, building and test requirements
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.
- Ability to interact with multiple maintenance activities and effectively communicate technical information with senior engineers, technicians, Project Managers and Maintenance Team including ship’s force personnel
- Requires the ability to investigate, troubleshoot, design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
- Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
- Active Secret clearance
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
