QA Tester (Job Number:405049)
Description:
SAIC is seeking a QA Tester to support soldier workforce transition programs and counseling systems based at the United States Army Human Resources Command in Fort Knox, KY. The candidate will use their experience in a broad range of Systems engineering principles to lead the execution and delivery of quality engineering services to the customer.
The QA Tester will support business and application development units by performing all software quality control testing to ensure no adverse impact on customers, operations or systems, requirements management, design, and testing management efforts and processes throughout the project and development life cycles.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the coordination and execution of system functionality and user acceptance testing. This requires the ability to define and work within a process that assures test plans, test scripts and test cases are created and followed to ensure appropriate testing of system upgrades and modifications. Need ability to write and execute test cases utilizing current templates; ability to interface with end users to obtain application functionality / requirements to support test case creation.
• Experience with regression testing of software applications and operating systems.
• Coordinate creation of testing data necessary to run test cases.
• Develop and define a range of severity levels. Gain agreement of definition from business sponsor.
• Maintain detailed test status (e.g. test case summary, JIRA defects)
• Provide guidance to other team members/testers during testing.
• Test and validate training and documentation materials associated with deliverable.
• Work with Project Evaluation Coordinator for coordination of testing cycles; Work in partnership with IT Development/Operations and Business Owners to schedule production installs.
• Participate in post project review.
• Experience with automated testing tools preferred but not required.
Qualifications
:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related field with 8 years of experience, 12 years experience in lieu of degree.
- Minimum 5+ years of software quality assurance experience
- Working knowledge of software testing applications and technology that supports them.
Has a good technical understanding and is able to follow and participate in technical discussions.
Knowledge of testing methodologies.
Advocate for Software Quality Assurance best practices.
Can breakdown technical projects into manageable work units and estimate task durations.
- Able to create and review software test plans and validation procedures.
- Experience with Scrum methodology preferred.
Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships across organization.
Strong problem solving, organization and planning skills.
Attention to detail, ability to multi task, adapts quickly to change and demonstrate flexibility.
Excellent communication skills and ability to think ‘out of the box’.
Team Oriented – able to work well with all levels of employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid technical skills in a test and development environment for .net and/or Java applications.
- Experience creating SQL queries.
- Experience supporting applications using Oracle databases.
- Working knowledge of Visual Studio including Microsoft Test Manager and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
Previous experience with Section 508 accessibility standards
Experience with Cloud based solutions
