Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Job Number:405044)
Description:
SAIC is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to support soldier workforce transition programs and counseling systems based at the United States Army Human Resources Command in Fort Knox, KY. The candidate will use their experience in a broad range of Systems engineering principles to lead the execution and delivery of quality engineering services to the customer.
The candidate conducts or participates in multidisciplinary research. Collaborate with software developers and/or system administrators in the planning, design, development and utilization of electronic data processing systems software. Designs and develops PL/SQL, Schemas, and SQL queries for new software implementation. Applies database security patches. Set up and manage database backup and recovery strategies and procedures. Manages and configures Disaster Recovery plan for critical production database using Oracle Data Guard. Monitors and corrects database performance issues.
Qualifications
:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Systems Engineering or related field or equivalent experience with 8 years of experience
- Ability to work with multiple teams of different disciplines (developers, testers, management, IT)
- Experience with latest database technologies including RMAN, DataGuard setup, database design/modeling, PL/SQL programming and performance tuning.
- Ability to monitor system for poorly performing procedures/SQL statements and provide advice on how to improve.
- Experience working with clients to query and research issues
- Currently holds, or has the ability to obtain, a DOD Secret Clearance
- US citizen
- Ability to obtain a Security+ Certification before starting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Unix, Linux, Solaris and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters(RAC), Oracle Automatic Storage Management(ASM) and Oracle operating in the previously mentioned operating systems, specifically RedHat Linux and HP Unix.
- Experience with a range of SQL Development front ends such as TOAD or SQL Developer
- Able to processes requirements from business analysts into table layout and model recommendations
- Understands RMAN backup scripting as well as Bash or Korn shell scripting

- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
