Description:
SAIC is looking for a VMWare/SAN Administrator to join the provisioning team in Orlando, FL. The Provisioning team provides operational and maintenance support for compute and storage systems located in ITO Data Centers. The team is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of all ITS server and storage physical and virtual infrastructures. Within the Provisioning Team, the Provisioning Storage Administrator is responsible for the availability, performance and security of our enterprise storage assets.
- Analyzes and verifies all project, initiative and ad hoc requests for the use of Development, QA and Production storage assets for technical accuracy.
- Deploys storage solution to support engineering activities to include: new system releases & upgrades, lease replacement, hardware upgrades, Disaster Recovery, and datacenter relocation/migrations. This includes recommendations for firmware/software levels to support existing hardware base.
- Assists in the production and maintenance of documentation of the storage systems for data center environments, including as-built documentation, capacity/performance plans, as well as all other areas of storage system life-cycle planning.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and managing incident resolution with direct vendor support when needed.
- Tier 2 level support for existing hardware base to include Clarion, VNX, Brocade and Cisco switch fabrics.
- Actively engages with other Provisioning Administrators, Lead Systems Engineer for Storage / SAN, DBA team members and all other Lead Systems Engineers assigned to projects as necessary.
- Responsible for all provisioning of storage assets including the SAN fabric zoning including the ability to work across our VMware based Provisioning environment to fulfill tasks.
- Work with System Monitoring to provide storage performance and capacity data to be included in Availability reporting infrastructure. Successful candidates will demonstrate the following characteristics:

- Ability to operate across traditional technical boundaries, comfortable working in the compute space as well as the storage space in an operational capacity.
Required Skills/Experience:
8 years of general administrative systems experience with a minimum of 3 years performing operations and maintenance in enterprise level IT environments.
Experience participating in a storage systems operations role in large data center is a plus.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
Systems engineering certification, or 2 additional years of related engineer experience is preferred.
Should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in architectural design and operational application in the following areas:
- EMC storage technologies, including Carrion and VNX. Symmetrix VMAX storage platforms as well as the RecoverPoint product line would be a plus
- Brocade storage area network (SAN) switching fabric products
- Cisco SAN switching fabric products
- Configuration, optimization, capacity planning, and troubleshooting of storage systems
Desired Skills/Experience: Recent experience participating in a VMware server virtualization role strongly desired. Candidate should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in engineering design and operational application in the following areas at the JOURNEYMAN level, especially as they relate to storage systems:
- Oracle & SQL database systems
- MS Exchange
- MS Windows Server 2003/2008
- Red Hat Linux
- VMware vSphere-, vCenter-, and ESX- based server virtualization
- HP Server systems, including blade-based systems and their management
- Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) servers and their management
- Network sub-systems, including TCP/IP and load- balancing technology
- Security sub-systems, including firewalls & proxy devices
Qualifications:
