The Network Integration Service Line currently has an opening for a senior Broadband Wireless Solutions Architect who can perform the role of a Chief Technologist for SAIC’s LTE Broadband Wireless Solution offerings for FirstNet related and other State and Local, Federal Government and International new business opportunities.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The candidate selected for the Solutions Architect position will lead the technical architecture for a Deployable Configuration LTE network eNodeB and with integrated EPC functionality. The Solutions Architect will have substantial interface with prospective customers to understand customers’ network requirements, convey SAIC’s offering capabilities and position SAIC into a competitive position for upcoming procurements. The individual will also lead in the development of the technical proposals for those opportunities. This individual will also provide technical leadership related to LTE network engineering of the Radio Access Network (RAN), microwave and fiber optic Backhaul network, and Evolved Packet Core (EPC); including analysis, design, implementation, optimization and enhancement of wireless telecommunications networks, trunked and conventional radio systems, microwave, IP application server networks, and associated power systems.
Specific duties and responsibilities include the performance, review, or oversight of these activities:
- Lead the technical definition of the SAIC LTE Deployable Configuration offering
- Provide technical marketing of the integrated LTE Deployable Configuration network offerings
- Identify and work with selected partners and develop partnerships with key industry companies (carriers, satcom providers, device providers, wireless equipment providers, etc.)
- Develop network configurations and working with customers to define requirements and solutions
- Establish SAIC visibility in the marketplace by presentations and whitepapers at appropriate conferences and industry events
- Lead and provide key inputs in the generation of technical proposals
- Interface with FirstNet Public Safety user community
- Perform design criteria, system dimensioning, link budget and traffic analysis of LTE and backhaul network
- Carry out optimization techniques (proper antenna selection for optimal horizontal/vertical performance, mechanical/electrical tilting, appropriate transmit power setting, antenna clearance, neighbor list analysis, etc.) for optimal site/cluster performance and acceptance testing.
Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required education/skills:
- Advanced degree in Engineering (MSEE and above required), Computer Science, or related field and 12 years of in depth broadband wireless network experience (OFDM, WiFi, WiMax, LTE) and related standards.
- Extensive experience in a broad range of network engineering assignments directly related to wireless RF engineering.
- Experience in Internet Protocol (IP) network (LAN/WAN) engineering, including traffic analysis, network design, and security.
- Broadband wireless authority who can speak knowledgeably about the broadband and LTE wireless landscape
- Broad knowledge of wireless products and subsystems in the broadband commercial marketplace
- Proven ability to develop technical papers and material and experienced in presentation to industry forums
- Experience with small cell LTE products highly desirable
- Familiarity with interoperable Land Mobile Radio (LMR) P25 Networks for use in public safety is highly desirable.
- Candidate must be detail oriented and self-motivated. Experience with MS Office 2007 or higher (Word, Excel, Visio).
- US and International travel will be required
