JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is for a Network Support Specialist III at the SPAWARSYSCEN Network Integration and Engineering Facility (NIEF). Candidate must be able to perform system loading, network configuration, system operational checkout, and troubleshooting on the ADNS and CANES systems.

The prospective candidate will act as a technical focal lead for the hardware operational check out and software load and configuration of complex network systems in a virtualized environment. The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, configuring and updating a wide range of network devices as well as reviewing, documenting, and making recommendations during testing. Candidate will certify that systems are loaded with the most up-to-date configuration toolkits and ensure that all steps have been fully completed on all system’s checklists or load plans.

Candidate will work closely with systems engineers to define and develop system testing procedures and checklist as well as provide direction for updates to existing ISO documents when systems changes arise.

The individual should be a self-starter who is able to act as the lead member of a diverse, cross-functional team, as well as independently when required. Candidate should have a strong willingness to learn new technologies.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Knowledge of Navy Network systems (ADNS, CANES, CENTRIXS, ISNS, SCI, SUBLAN)

- Knowledge of network protocols, command line skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Solaris operating systems.

- Knowledge of server virtualization principles and practices.

- Requires the technical skills to effectively diagnose and correct hardware/software issues.

- Requires the ability to multi task and act swiftly to resolve technical issues as they arise.

- Must have superb customer service support skills and ability to interact with the government customers, vendors, systems engineers, and fellow technical staff members.

- The individual should have experience in network administration, design, troubleshooting, and demonstrate excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree or equivalent training, and 6+ years experience with voice, data and LAN/WAN communications systems.

REQUIRED Certifications:

- Must be Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Network Level 1 compliant by currently possessing valid Security+ and CCNA certifications (will accept Security+ and Windows 2007 or 2008 certifications)

- Must have a security clearance or the ability to attain such within an acceptable timeframe.
