Help Desk Support Specialist (Job Number:403142)
Description:
SAIC has a career opportunity for a Help Desk Support Specialist located in Falls Church, VA. The candidate selected for this position will become a full time employee of SAIC with full benefits. Must have experience with VMWare and a Security+ certification to be considered.
The candidate will provide support to the Department of the Navy, Headquarters Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. He/She will assist end users in the use of hardware, printers, business software and operating systems. Candidate will possess the ability to resolve general hardware and software problems, interacting with customers having little or no background in computers. He/She will maintain documentation for procedures and processes, as well as, maintenance logs and equipment databases.
Qualifications:
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Moderate experience in Microsoft based platforms (Windows XP, Windows 7, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.) is desired.
- Scripting, Apple Macintosh experience, server experience
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED and seven (7) years of experience providing IT support in a customer focused organization are required.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must have experience and understanding of Networks, LAN, VLAN.
- Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory (Account Management, Organizational Units, Mailbox Management, Exchange features)
- Security Plus (Security +) or equivalent certification as outlined by the DOD 8570 series
- Candidate must have an OS certification, such as MCP or MCITP
- Special consideration – The candidate must be able to lift 40lbs
- Candidate must be able to communicate well with management, technical personnel and other co-workers.
- Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communications skills and be able to work in a dynamic team environment.
- VMWare experience as well as an understanding of VDI
