JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a part of the Military Health Systems (MHS) Network Security Operations Center (NSOC) Computer Network Defense Service Provider (CNDSP), the candidate will be responsible for running vulnerability scans with Nessus and Security Center. The scans are completed to maintain the compliance status of all operational Network Protection Suite (NPS) related hardware and software, including NPS components deployed to Service MTFs, the MHS Intranet, and other MHS data centers supported by Enterprise Infrastructure (EI). Duties may include establishing, configuring, performing operations and maintenance tasks, administering, and managing all of the following:

- Good working technical knowledge of Nessus and Security Center with the ability to perform scans, create and run reports, and troubleshoot more advanced issues on assets in the MHS Enclaves
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Linux systems to be able manage both Nessus and Security Center applications
- Tenable training to include any of the following: Security and Compliance Monitoring with Security Center, Nessus Vulnerability & Compliance Auditing, Passive Vulnerability & Compliance Monitoring
- Manage assets in the Continuous Monitoring and Risk Scoring (CMRS), to include publishing reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical procedures and ability to maintain existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and draft new SOPs as required
- Disseminating, interpreting, and tracking compliance with IAVM associated messages including Alerts (IAVA) and Bulletins (IAVB) and provide status reports weekly on IAVM compliance along with analyzing scan results to include non-IAVM vulnerabilities

Required Education & Experience:

Basic knowledge and requirements:

- Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio)
- Basic network troubleshooting to be able to test Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS)
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbally) and provide status updates as requested
- Effective time management skills and the ability to be proactive and work autonomously but also be able to function as a team player

Qualifications:

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 3+ years of operating systems experience. Viewed as a well-developed technical resource capable of handling moderately complex assignment.
