SAIC is looking for a Network Engineer to support the Brigade Modernization Command’s NIE Systems Integration Contract. Primary duty location is at Ft. Bliss, TX and White Sands Missile Range, NM.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Network Engineer, as part of the SAIC led NETOPS Team, is responsible for network design and configuration, network troubleshooting and issue resolution, monitoring the development of critical data products, and providing support to the installation, integration, and fielding of key network systems to assigned Brigade Combat Teams (BCT) as a part of the Army’s Capability Sets. Has the knowledge and ability to prepare data and voice network diagrams, as well as investigate, identify and resolve complex technical issues within the tactical network. Verifies installation and integration requirements and documents all activities accordingly. Interfaces daily with soldiers and Government representatives of similar background to accomplish mission and program objectives. Develops and maintains subject matter expertise (SME) of communications and network systems embedded in current and future US Army Capability Sets to support of systems engineering and integration, requirements generation and network modernization efforts. Analyzes emerging network designs as applicable to the demands of fielding and integrating future Capability Sets to the US Army and recommends potential courses of action for support. Consistently works effectively and cooperatively with fellow NETOPS Team members, other employees on related projects, Government stakeholders and external customers. Establishes and maintains good working relationships by actively involving less experienced employees and/or other project team leaders and external customers in order to help them feel valued, appreciated, and part of the collaborative team. Places higher priority on team and organization goals than on own goals. Offers to provide assistance and/or project team leadership to other teams and/or employees when doing so would benefit the organization. Remains flexible on work requirements based on the changing needs of the customer.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience.
Additional Duties:
In coordination with customer requirements, assists with the planning and execution of operationally relevant field test and experimentation efforts within the Army’s Network Integration Event (NIE) process. Supports integration activities and conducts troubleshooting for Systems Under Evaluation (SUEs) and Systems Under Test (SUTs) at various test sites within the NIE environment. Provides network SME support to NIE Transport Architecture development and analyzes multiple network configurations that address the varying Basis of Issue Plans (BOIP) for each unit prior to and during field integration events.
Required Experience and Skills:
- An active DoD SECRET Clearance is required for this position
- ·
- Experience with routing protocols including Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Routing Internet Protocol (RIP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Multicast
- Experience with tactical network hardware and software
- Experience installing and configuring routers, switches, and smart hubs
- Ability to work long hours in austere conditions with minimal support
- ·
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Prior military experience at Company, Battalion, and/or Brigade level
- Experience supporting the Army’s Network Integration Events
- Knowledge of Capability Set 13 systems (WIN-T Inc 2, AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-155 HMS Manpack, AN/PRC-154 Rifleman Radio, SRW Applique’, and Nett Warrior)
