Description:



Aspects include: Installation of GFE systems, in-service maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair, documentation and logistics support, operating material and supplies control, land-based and at-sea testing support and training military personnel on SSTD systems.

Position Description: The position will be serve as a Team Leader performing SSTD engineering support services such as engineering change installations, technical assists, systems certifications, INSURVs, FRP inspections, or system installations. Additionally, the position is charged with providing technical evaluation and recommendations for the required corrective actions for SSTD-related combat systems casualties in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and all other applicable Navy Maintenance Procedures; draft Technical Assistance Visit Reports upon completion of corrective actions; assist in the disassembly, reassembly, installation and testing of the SSTD-related combat systems onboard all classes of surface ships; and provide support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment .and systems in accordance with engineering specifications

Qualifications

:
Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the field, or Associates degree and a minimum of six (6) years’ experience in the field, or a high school diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years general experience related to installation, operation, repair, testing, maintenance, and logistics efforts in support of SSTD-related combat systems onboard all classes of surface ships.
- Must have knowledge of relationships, policies, and procedures for NSSA/RMCs/ FTSCLANT, NAVSEA, PERA/SURFMEPP, Naval Shipyards, and Type Commanders
- Must have excellent communication skills to interface with numerous Engineering and Trades organizations, and ship’s force leaders and work with minimal supervision
- Good technical writing and organizational abilities
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles related to shipyard work and testing
- Technical knowledge and the ability to apply NAVSEA Ship Overhaul, building and test requirements
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems
- Ability to interact with multiple maintenance activities and effectively communicate technical information with senior engineers, technicians, Project Managers and Maintenance Team including ship’s force personnel
- Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
- Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
- May require travel, including some overseas travel
- Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

- Periodically will require work in harsh environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained
- Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components
- May periodically involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required
