Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to support the Enterprise Database Team within the IT Services Task Order on the JRDC program located at Schriever AFB, CO.

Serve as the technical lead for the Enterprise Database Team (EDT). Provide daily technical direction to the EDT. Develop strategic vision for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) concerning the architecture, integration, operations, maintenance and support for databases. Communicate the strategic vision across MDA stakeholders, to include government customers, database owners and database users. Clearly and effectively advocate the value and benefits of transitioning into the MDA consolidated database support structure. Meet with the government customer to provide information and advice concerning Enterprise database systems. Design, implement, maintain and consolidate database systems across the MDA enterprise network. Research and apply best business practices for the design and administration of databases. Provide planning for implementing database upgrades and transition to new versions of database systems. Create and maintain standard database policies, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), standard operating procedures and overall documentation. Implement proactive database performance monitoring, fine tuning and optimize database systems. Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies. Conduct database capacity and availability audits. Identify opportunities and implement solutions to enhance existing database systems. Participate in IT and business projects to define database system requirements and recommend technology solutions. Research, benchmark, document and introduce new database technologies and features into application life cycle. Collaborate with the application developers, business owners and architects in design and implementations. Occasional after-hours maintenance and on-call support required. Work for this position will be performed on-site.

Qualifications

:
Must have a Master's degree in a technical field and at least twenty (20) years experience. Experience administrating MS SQL Server database systems is a must. In-depth expert knowledge and experience with relational DBMS concepts, design and operations. In-depth expert knowledge and experience with MS SQL Server to include MS SQL Server 2008. Experience with technical leadership/management, MS SQL Server clusters, MS SQL Server database performance tuning, MS SQL Server database monitoring and MS SQL Server database backup/recovery. Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services. Experience supporting databases in Virtual environments (VMWare ESXi). Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Comfortable interacting with senior government personnel. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Candidate must have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in Continuing Education (CE) with a Security+ certification or have a current CISSP. Essential qualifications include the ability to quickly adapt to new situations, a strong commitment to a team environment, a willingness to learn new technologies, the ability to deconflict requests/requirements and an ability to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures.

Experience with several of the following a plus, if minimum requirements are satisfied: Windows operating systems, MS SQL Server database-application development, BMC Remedy and Microsoft Active Directory interface. Microsoft certification such as: MCTS, MCSA, MCSE, or MCSM, with emphasis on MS SQL Server database. Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency and BMDS programs. ITIL v3 Foundations certification desired. Experience in O&M activities.
