SAIC is seeking an Jr. Information Security Analyst in Suffolk, VA
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision, as the Subject Matter Expert, the qualified candidate will perform a variety of routine and non-routine tasks associated with Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Assurance (IA) support in accordance with National and Department of Defense (DoD) standards to include the Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). Individual will be dealing with the customer on a daily basis and requires highly developed interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Provides full time Information Assurance (IA) support in obtaining and maintaining security certification and accreditation (C&A) of systems, networks, or sites.
- As a Liaison Action Officer, develops, maintains and provide required review and assessment of C&A packages to determine risk of legacy systems, networks and applications requesting IA C&A approval in accordance to DoD and Navy security requirements.
- Provide information assurance, technical support, and project management expertise for Office of Designated Approval Authority (ODAA) on behalf of USFF Live Training Support (N72) for the Tactical Training Ranges at FLTCYBERCOM/ NAVCYBERFOR.
- Provide government oral briefings and/or written reports as required/requested, to include providing assistance to USFF and Command IAM’s.
- Drafts formal recommendations on the IA posture of Information Systems and level of risk including mitigation for Interim and final Authority to Operate decisions.
- Assist customer through the DIACAP or customer prescribed accreditation process to include, but not limited to, determination of security requirements, analysis of protective features and determination of residual risk.
- Assist with the development of IA policy, requirements, integration and accreditation package reviews.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (accredited college) in related field and six (6) years technical or operational experience. Candidates with seven (7) + year's verifiable experience can be considered in lieu of a degree. Experience shall include a range of assignments in technical and network security tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility.
- Active Secret Clearance
- Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) or DoD Directive 8570 equivalent Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level II certification experienced in the Navy IA processes (CAP, GSLC, CISM, CASP)
- 3 years’ experience supporting and/or maintaining security certification and accreditation of DoD systems.
- Thorough knowledge of DIACAP with actual experience developing, reviewing and evaluating IA packages for entry in Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (EMASS).
- Knowledge of security features of UNIX and Windows Operating Systems in stand-alone and networked environments.
- Experience in performing security/vulnerability analyses with recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Experience with the application or implementation of security tools, firewalls, security guards, and web server security.
- Technical writing and speaking skills are critical to this position.
- Experience with the utilization of computer and Microsoft Office Products.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Candidate must have professional experience and demeanor with excellent interpersonal, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess the ability to research and evaluate networks security and a strong understanding of hardware, software, and networking solutions and environments.
- Able to operate in a fast paced environment often faced with short-fused requirements.
- Extensive knowledgeable of Federal/DoD/DoN Security policies, directives and other regulatory materials.
- Must have extensive knowledge of data communications technology switches, edge devices, routers, fast Ethernet switches, Ethernet hub, Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), fiber optics backbone, time domain multiplexers (TDM), Channel Service Units (CSU), Data Service Units (DSU)), Wireless Networks, telecommunications theories and principles, and Network designs and specifications. Network Engineer or Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) desired.
- Applies scientific, mathematical, and or other data collection methods to obtain quantitative, rational basis or decision-making or resource allocations on military, governmental, business, engineering, scientific, or operation complex projects.
- Applies systems analysis, design and operational procedures to systems of a broad area such as requirements development, engineering, interface design, training, routine operations, and interoperability.
- Operates, evaluates, maintains or modifies complex operational systems.
- Guides personnel in formulating requirements; advises on alternatives and on the implications of new or revised systems; analyzes user project proposals; identifies omissions and errors; conducts feasibility studies and recommends optimum approach.
- Assists in the development of system design. Interprets information and arbitrates between system users when conflicts exist. May serve as lead analyst.
- Directs and performs research, analysis, experiments, tests, and documentation development.
- Evaluates findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment or processes. Prepares technical reports.
- Knowledge of governance, risk and compliance frameworks, especially NIST Special Publications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused attitude.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- Prior military experience a plus.
