Network Engineer III - Sr. Tactical Networks ISEA Engineer (Job Number:406977)

SAIC is currently seeking a Network Engineer to support a large Navy Program in San Diego, CA.
Candidate will provide system life cycle network engineering for our customers at SPAWAR and SPAWARSYSCEN San Diego. Efforts will be focused primarily on network and storage devices (routers, switches, filers), but will also include software and hardware efforts required to sustain currently fielded systems. This includes analysis and modifications to replace commercial off the shelf (COTS) components that are end of life, modifications to support new interfaces to other systems, and modifications to existing systems driven by customer requirements. The candidate will also provide break/fix Information Technology support in a fast paced, high energy environment. Candidate will interface with Active Duty personnel and US Government employees to provide top notch repair support with a focus on LANs to the United States Navy. The candidate must be able to analyze issues in an Enterprise LAN Shipboard Environment to determine the best course of action for resolution. Candidate will also need to provide root cause analysis and be comfortable recommending permanent configuration changes when necessary. Candidates will also work in cooperation with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors, to arrive at the most appropriate system or integration of multiple systems. With information technology constantly changing, specialists must stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and the potential effectiveness of these advancements in their current system.
Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6+ years experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility. Will accept years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Candidate must possess at minimum Secret clearance with TS eligibility, and existing TS clearance is preferred.
- Candidate must be well versed in Navy Vessel Systems - including ADNS, ISNS, CANES, SCI Networks, CENTRIX, etc.
- The position requires some travel, less than 20%, both US and international along with some off hours support.
