Desktop Engineer (Job Number:406212)
Description:
SAIC is looking for a qualified Desktop Engineer who will provide Core Image Builds. Their primary duties include running through daily checks on the SCCM and Windows Enterprise environment, as well as viewing and responding to events reflected in the various management tools. This position will also focus on the administration of Microsoft’s SCCM including software distribution, patching and remediation. The Microsoft SCCM Administrator will be required to coordinate efforts with other work centers and personnel to resolve Incidents related to systems and supporting infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
• Creation of WinPE Images and GUI Interfaces for network imaging
• Maintain and deploy manufacturer image library’s
• Coordinate and assist external vendors with the resolution of software and hardware issues
• Developing application install packages using supported tools
• Creating and maintaining end user computing environment e.g. images on desktops, laptops, and on Virtual Desktops
• Patch Management
• Software Distribution
• Enterprise Antivirus Solution
• Desktop and application troubleshooting
• Creating and maintaining PC images for several manufacturers Physical Desktops and Laptops using Microsoft ImageX and Sysprep
The successful candidate will have knowledge of:
• Imaging with Microsoft SCCM, ImageX and SysPrep
• Manipulation of packages with Install Shield, Microsoft Installer, and/or SMS Installer.
• Windows OS (XP and 7)
• Microsoft Office Suites (including Office 365)
• Interfacing directly with end-users
• Troubleshooting complex installation and operational issues
Qualifications:
Required Skills, Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a computer related field (or an additional 4 years of applicable technical experience) and 8+ years of experience
• At least 2 years of Desktop support experience in a Windows Active Directory environment
• Thorough understanding of programming, relational database, and client- server concepts
• Must be capable of providing customer consulting services with minimal supervision
• Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skills a necessity
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
• Strong Motivational skills
• Team leadership skills
• Excellent planning/time management skills.
• Excellent client-facing skills.
• Excellent project management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced and hectic work environment, ability to prioritize tasks effectively; and an ability to work seamlessly across organizational boundaries.

Desired knowledge and experience:
• Systems Management Services 2003
• System Center Configuration Manager 2007 and/or 2012
• Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 and/or 2012
• Scripting in Batch, AutoIt, VBScript, SMS Installer, and/or Powershell
• McAfee Antivirus/Encryption within a large enterprise environment
• Microsoft Encryption within a large enterprise environment
• Modification of systems Registry
