Senior Metrologist / Calibration Technician (Job Number:405433)

SAIC has a contingent job opportunity for a Metrologist / Calibration Technician to support new opportunities with the NSWC Crane Division Center in Crane, IN.
The Calibration Technician will support the Calibration and Equipment Management Branch in the execution of their overall mission, tasking, and workload. The Technician will do calibration, testing, troubleshooting and repairs, as necessary, data collection and report completion on a wide range of dimensional, electrical (electronic), electro-mechanical and mechanical measuring and test equipment (M&TE). Possess excellent customer service skills in both written and oral forms. Use established internal procedures as well as industry standards, manufacturer procedures, etc. for the proper calibration and troubleshooting of M&TE. Complete required documentation to certify the verification and calibration of M&TE. Use a variety of diagnostic tools and standard equipment to isolate malfunctions of M&TE. Follow Navy policies and standard operating procedures (SOP). Must have in-depth, detailed knowledge of the metrology, mathematics, and applicable technical disciplines required to perform the described duties. Design and develop new calibration methods and test aids, when required. Sample proficiency requirements include: Amp Meters, Balances, Clamp Meters, CMM's, Data Loggers, Force Gages, Frequency Counters, Gage Blocks, Hardness Testers, Height Gages, Hypot Testers, Load Cells, Mass, Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Pressure/Vacuum, Temperature/Humidity, Thread Gages, Time and Weights. Submit draft and final LCG’s, LCP’s, and CPR’s to the Calibration and Equipment Management Branch for approval through the Calibration and Management Branch and NSWC Corona hierarchy. Calibration and measurement of NSWC Crane test, measurement, & diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
Qualifications

Basic Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited insitution, and 3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
BS degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Math, Science, or similar, is strongly desired with 5 years of metrology experience. Training or Certification Courses in calibration and repairs, or similar, is strongly desired.
Self-motivated, possess a strong commitment to customer service and excel in a team-orientated environment. Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and database applications (data entry, not programming). Valid driver's license is required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required.
All Calibration Technicians in the NSWC Crane Calibration Lab will complete the METCAL 1 on-line training/certification within their first year, METCAL Level 2 on-line training/certification within their second year followed by ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI Z540.3 Accreditation Courses on-line training/accreditation in their third year

Ability to obtain DoD SECRET Clearance.
