JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Performs a variety of moderate to difficult assignments associated with Oracle database administration:
- Production support Oracle 11g DBA performing complex DBA assignments in direct support of classified production application.
- Performs daily checks on the production databases and resolve issues as part of production support.
- On occasion supports development efforts that are database intensive.
- Applies Oracle CPU and other IAVAs and security patches
- May propose and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability.
- Perform database backup & recovery to include RMAN, exports, imports
- Troubleshoots and analyzes problems.
- Analyze database performance bottlenecks and perform database performance tuning.
- Recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the Oracle databases.
- Administers systems/environment solutions and the planning of system/environment requirements.
- Record helpdesk trouble tickets and support end user requests as required.
- May provide work direction and guidance to others.
- May be responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.
- May determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments.
- May be required to develop and create technical documentation.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in related technical discipline and 9+ years of IT experience; 4 additional years of relevant experience is acceptable without a Degree
5+ years as a DBA including 2+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience
Viewed as a well- developed technical resource capable of handling complex assignments.
Must be able to work within a virtual machine Windows environment.
Understands troubleshooting processes and cooperates with other team members in a CMMI Level 3 environment.
CITIZENSHIP: Must be US citizen
CLEARANCE: Secret Clearance Required, with ability to obtain a Top Secret
85/70 Requirements:
- Security + Certification and other DBA-focused Certification, suggested and eventually required within 180 days of hire date
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Understanding of Web Applications and their infrastructure, knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) and its implementation in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC),
- Experience in vulnerability assessment tools and their uses
- Experience with hardening systems for DoD are all pluses.
- Experience using TOAD database application tool.
- Experience in a CMMI Level 2 or Level 3 environment suggested.
- Experience with performance tuning is a plus.
- Experience upgrading from Oracle 11g to 12c a plus.
