Job Description: SAIC has a need for a Java/JEE software developer and tester with at least five years of experience in developing JSP and Java servlets for business or technical applications, using a relational database and commercial report generation software. Knowledge of the industrial workplace safety business domain is beneficial. In addition, experience with ColdFusion is necessary as some of the applications in need of support are written in that technology.
The software developer and tester will:
- Gather requirements, design, develop and test high-reliability web applications, and provide end user support for a major Environment Safety and Health application used throughout Sandia National Laboratories.
- Design and maintain relational databases for high-transaction, high-volume applications using SQL and query tools
- Generate reports from relational data sources
- Manage software application code using version control and problem tracking software expediently and accurately
- Work effectively in an agile software development environment
- Interact closely with customers
- Provide help, software development, testing, support, and quality assurance for the PHS, DARTS, SALI, IRMS, and potentially other application in the supported portfolio.
- Attendance is required at daily scrum meetings and project planning meetings (teleconference presence may be sufficient for some of these meetings , as determined by the Project Lead)
- Development and database activities to be done in compliance with the PHS Project application development, database and middleware guidelines and standards
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing JSP and Java servlets for business or technical applications
- Minimum of 5 years working with a relational database and commercial reporting software
- Adherence to the project plans and database and middleware group guidelines and standards
- Strong knowledge of Java, J2EE, Oracle, Weblogic, ColdFusion and related systems
- Utilization of agile software development approach and toolsets
- Familiarity with PVCS Version Manager and Serena Problem Tracking tools
- Experience producing high quality documentation to be produced throughout the effort
- Developing new features and modifications are to be designed, implemented, and tested to achieve 99.5% availability in production.
- Possession (or have the ability to obtain) a DOE L clearance to be able to work with data at the UCI level
Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related technical field and 5+ years related experience. An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
