Description:
SAIC’s Software Integration Service Line is seeking a software engineer to join other technical professionals in SAIC’S contract in support of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB).
The FRTIB administers the Thrift Savings Plan which provides Federal employees the opportunity to save for retirement. FRTIB manages retirement assets for more than 4.5 million participants worldwide.
The position is responsible for supporting all phases of the software development life cycle including requirements gathering, architecture and design, coding, testing, deployment and production support. The candidate should be a self-starter who has experience working with the Agile software development methodology and will be responsible for developing and documenting code that meets the functional and technical requirements and adheres to software engineering best practices.
The candidate will document and maintain source code in accordance with program procedures for source code control. The candidate will support the initial phase of gathering user requirements and will then be required to translate requirements into system design and specifications.
The candidate may be required to perform database analysis and assist with database design for new and existing systems.
The candidate will conduct unit testing, verify system test cases/scripts, and support investigation and resolution of system test issues.
The candidate will support service desk ticket processing to troubleshoot and resolve reported problems in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or additional 5+ years relevant work experience required
- 5+ years of Microsoft.Net (C# preferred) programming experience
- Experience in development of Microsoft ASP.Net web applications
- Knowledge of SQL Server (experience designing tables, writing stored procedures, optimizing queries, etc.) and user interface tier (experience in design and maintenance of web applications using frameworks such as ASP.NET) is mandatory
- Experience with other programming languages (JAVA, JavaScript, SQL, ColdFusion, XML, C++, HTML) is also a plus
- Strong experience with developing reusable components and adhering to object oriented principles is required
- Knowledge of Section 508 compliance requirements for web based applications is desired
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is desired
- Experience with Workflow Foundation, Entity Framework and SQL Server Reporting Services is a plus
- Strong analysis skills
- Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Works on complex problems where analysis of situation or data requires an in-depth evaluation of conflicting factors
- Strong organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to fully document technical specifications and related systems level documentation
- Candidate must have a passion for learning new technologies and implementation methods.
- Prior knowledge in pension/retirement system implementation a plus
