Job Description
SAIC requires a lead MS SQL Server DBA to support the database infrastructure for hosted applications. As the Lead SQL DBA, primary responsibilities will to be ensure the database infrastructure, design and configuration supports hosted applications, e.g. MS SharePoint. This role includes managing, tracking and resolving database and database cluster related incidents and requests. The Lead SQL DBA will support database backups, maintenance, monitoring. Operational jobs on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs. You will be involved in the planning, design, implementation and maintenance of future systems and projects which may include BI solutions, disaster recovery solutions, migrations, etc. As the Lead SQL DBA, will act as the technical subject matter expert (SME) on MS SQL Server related matters and provide senior technical/management staff with expertise on current MS SQL Server architecture, design, capabilities and limitations and prepares recommendations for system improvements.
You must be service-oriented and willing to take ownership of issues and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Willing to join on-call rotations and after hours support as needed. Good communication, to both technical and non-technical parties, will be an integral part of what you do on a daily basis.
Job Requirements
We are looking for a person that has:
- BS Degree in a relate technical field
- 8+ years experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server and Clusters.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with MS SQL clustering methodologies
- Experience with integrating MS SQL with MS SharePoint
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
- Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
- Experience working in a Windows server environment.
- Experience in developing technical, schedule and cost estimates related to MSSQL Server upgrades and enhancements.
- Good communication and documentation skills a must.
Required Experience
Ideal candidates will also have experience in as many of the following as possible:
- Current and/or Past Certification is a plus; MCSA, MCSE, etc.
- Datacenter hosting experience strongly preferred
- SQL Server 2008r2 (2012 desired)
- Forward thought of automation
- MS SQL Clusters Administration
- Experience in problem diagnosis and resolution
- Familiarity with DoD database security technical implementation guides for MS SQL database.
Must Have:
Ability to aquire a Secret Clearance
Ability to become Security+ certified
