Position Description: The Air Force Operation of SAIC has a job opening for Sr. Software Engineer at O’Fallon, IL. This position is to construct and incrementally develop, modify, upgrade, deliver, and field a Command and Control software application in support of Air Mobility Command (AMC), using development best practices. The positions are immediately available.
The successful candidate, with minimal guidance, will be able to provide technical expertise and perform in-depth and complex software systems programming and analysis. Must have experience on high-performance agile development teams delivering complex systems and software. These skills include the following specific tasks:
- Support the design of architectures, including the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements, as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
- Ensure these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems and DOD architectures.
- Determine and identify high-level functional and technical requirements on the basis of interactions with the user community and knowledge of the enterprise architecture.
- Identify, assess, and present options for meeting the functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software updates or upgrades.
- Formulate and define specifications for operating system applications or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
- Create detailed design specifications for use by software development staff members.
- Interact with project management to plan project schedules and technical direction.
- Develop software design documents and technology white papers responsible for developing high-level system design diagrams and for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
- Be responsible for quality assurance review and the evaluation of existing and new software.
Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ten (10) years software engineering experience, to include: Design, Development, and Test and Evaluation. Five (5) years programming experience with C4ISR Project programming languages. Four (4) years’ experience to include: Database development (i.e. SQL Server), Web page design, Computer Based Training, and using .NET tools and Integrated Development Environments (i.e. Visual Studio) in software development.
Must have experience supporting the development of web-based and client/server applications with:
- Agile development methods
- Secure software design and development
- Multiple language development processes and tools/utilities:
- Experience with ASP.NET and C# or Visual Basic is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio is required.
- Experience with WebForms is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge in C++ and Javascript is highly desirable.
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks and development (primarily jQuery) to support rapid prototyping and development is desirable.
- Experience with modern MVC, REST, and Web API standards using Microsoft technologies is desirable.
- Experience with MSTest or NUnit is desirable.
- Experience with SQL Server or other RDBMS and T-SQL is desirable.
- Configuration management processes.
- Web services development and SOA design
- Graphical user interface design and construction
- Object-oriented development concepts and design patterns
Desired Experience: Has experience working with scheduling, performance, fielding, compliance with DoD and Air Force IT standards, and security and accreditation. Has experience allocating and prioritizing project resources to meet functional requirements, and fielding automated systems. Has experience with development, testing, configuration management, and fielding support; managing and analyzing C2 systems design and development; and recommending allocation of resources to meet changing priorities and requirements. Has experience reporting on program status, including schedule, security, and compliance with directives to government managers, working groups, and specialized reporting tools. Is able to articulate concepts at both an engineering level for technical discussions and a summary level for management decision making. Familiarity with client-server architectures hosting planning capabilities and web-based architecture. Knowledge of AMC mission planning, scheduling, and execution, and operations.
