Senior Simulation Engineer (Job Number:404861)
Description:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of software used in the operation of flight simulators at the NASA Ames Research Centers Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS), the Crew Vehicle Systems Research facility (CVSRF) and the Future Flight Central (FFC) collectively known as NASA Ames Simulation Laboratories (SimLabs). The successful applicant will have working knowledge of real-time flight simulation. This position requires the ability to perform analysis and implementation (software design and coding) of math models for real-time, piloted, six degrees- of-freedom, large scale, motion base, research and development simulators. This individual will lead teams to create, enhance, integrate, and maintain aeronautical simulator software used at the SimLabs facilities. Development and operation of standalone and distributed simulations, distributed simulation technologies, and data reduction/viewing/analysis systems are a key part of the position and the candidate should be proficient in these activities. The candidate should be familiar with the design, development, and airworthiness analysis that pertains to at least one of the aeromechanics engineering disciplines (i.e., aerodynamics, aircraft performance, dynamics, flight controls, handling qualities, and simulation). The successful applicant will be capable of working with a team of engineers and technicians to manage the completion of work assignments of technical tasks. The applicant will demonstrate familiarity with systems engineering principles. Project management, operational support, documentation, scheduling, and communication skills are desired.
Qualifications
:
Required Education/Skills: B.S. in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering (equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree). Minimum of 9 years’ experience with flight real-time piloted flight simulation or other equivalent experience. Fortran programming, C programming, and Matlab experience are required. #12: Additional Desired Skills: Experience in JAVA programming, C++ programming, OpenGL, and Linux OS Hardware/Software Integration are highly desired. Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident
