Description:
SAIC is seeking a BMD Technical Planner/ BMD SME in Norfolk, VA.
The position, as a Ballistic Missile Defense Fleet Synthetic Training Subject Matter Expert (BFAS SME) will provide expert operational and technical knowledge regarding BMD and Aegis weapons, sensors, and the Aegis Combat System as a member of the Navy Warfare Development Command's (NWDC) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Integrated Systems Division (ISD) engineering staff in support of the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) and Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE). This position will support the SWDC ISD team by providing solutions for the integration of NCTE live, virtual and constructive simulation technologies in support of US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Number Fleets training and certification requirements. This position will provide SME support to USFF and the Numbered Fleets in the conduct of synthetic training and mission certification events between pierside ships, virtual trainers and training centers during Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) events within the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES
Investigate BMD and Aegis capabilities, plan and assist in the integration and development of the Joint Semi-Automated Forces (JSAF) ABMD and Aegis models and other joint BMD training systems and models that will interact with the new JSAF models and live Aegis units. Review and monitor BMD and Aegis requirements, initiatives and emerging technology to ensure joint/coalition interoperability issues are addressed. Represent NWDC when directed and assist in development of documentation related joint distributed training and integration into Aegis Afloat and Aegis shore asset architecture.
Using system engineering skills, this position will lead projects, frequently as Integrated Project Team (IPT) lead, involving integration of BMD simulations or trainers within the NCTE, keeping NWDC engineering functions (e.g., networks, operations, information assurance, etc.) informed of NCTE integration implications, as well as software development supporting additional functionality in NWDC core simulations (e.g., JSAF, JBUS). The position will provide Mobile Technical Team (MTT) support to Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) and work alongside NWDC project managers for COCOM sponsored training events and represent NWDC at the Interoperability Working Group (IWG).
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 or more years ABMD experience (completed one tour on an ABMD ship or ABMD training command (CSCS , ATRC, or ATG) and assigned to BMD mission support.
- Candidate must show significant shipboard time aboard a USN Ballistic Missile capable surface ship on their resume.
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience supporting BMD aboard ship
- Performed as CSTT member and/or Senior Enlisted Leader
- Proficient with BFTT and ACTS operations, to include set up and CSOSS procedures.
- Qualified as Combat Systems Coordinator (CSC), Air Warfare Coordinator (AWC), Missiles Systems Supervisor (MSS), Training Supervisor (TRASUP), Ballistic Missile Defense Officer (BMDO) and/or Tactical Action Officer (TAO)
- Possesses thorough working knowledge of ABMD Aegis Core Tactics & Aegis Core Tactics.
- Possesses working knowledge of Link 16 architectures with respect to BMDS support.
- Possesses working knowledge of JSAF/NCTE and ACS requirements to support distributed training architectures and/or other M&S experience.
- Possesses working knowledge of ABMD CONOPS in EUCOM, CENTCOM and PACOM.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous STO or CSMM with at least 20 years of experience with operating the ACS in training, test and tactical operations
