Description:
SAIC is actively seeking an enthusiastic, goal-oriented candidate that is self-starting and requires minimal supervision for Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineering to provide expert technical, operational, and analytical support to sustain the current training missions of the 705th Combat Training Squadron (705 CTS) through the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC). Primary training mission areas for the DMOC are:
- Internal Training Events – DMOC internal training events include major exercise events such as VIRTUAL FLAG (VF) and smaller scale training events such as Joint Kill Chain Events (JKCEs), and Air Force Weapons School events.
- External Training Events – External training event examples include Warfighter Focused Events (WFEs), NORTHERN EDGE (NE), Fleet Synthetic Training – Joint (FST-J) exercises.
- Special Projects – The 705 CTS manages a large number of research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) and facility improvement projects aimed at improving Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capability within the DoD and the international community.
Responsibilities of the Systems Engineer will span multiple DMOC functional areas, to include technical engineering, architecture, event/project support, test and training requirements analysis and modeling/simulation activities. Support will also include:
- Translating operational requirements into technical requirements
- Designing the exercise and event systems architecture
- Organizing engineering support for site liaison teams and DMOC internal systems
- Conducting the technical portion of the Exercise/Event Planning Conference
- Developing the event test plan
- Coordinating technical efforts with other DMOC technical contractors
- Coordinating development of individual system test plans, supervising system and integration testing and conducting daily technical briefings and debriefings
- Maintaining an assessment of the technical status of the event
- Identifying and prioritizing technical problems
- Leading issue mitigation efforts
- Documenting and assessing technical lessons learned

Educational Background:
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with 4 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in the same fields with 6 years of relevant experience;(equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree).
Experience Requirements:
- 4 years of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) experience
- Strong and proven systems engineering background – preferably in military environment
- Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) experience
- Knowledge of distributed interactive simulation (DIS) simulation protocols and standards. Knowledge of High Level Architecture (HLA) and the Test and training ENabling Architecture (TENA) a plus.
- 3 years prior experience with training, Test and Evaluation (T&E), or experimentation events
Highly Desired Experience:
- DMO experience working with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) assets
- Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) experience
- Tactical Data Link (TDL) experience
