SAIC is hiring for the position of Windows Lead. This person is responsible for maintaining the operational status of systems and work closely with other members of the information technology department within the company. The duties of this position ranges across the spectrum of individual VMware and Windows systems to implement complex solutions around business need. The candidate will be required to work with minimum supervision to deliver projects and tasks related to these infrastructures; project management skills are required. Candidate will maintain Windows-based platforms and services including Active Directory, LDAP, SharePoint, and Exchange. In this regard, duties such as scripting and light programming especially using PowerShell are highly desired. Candidate is responsible for configuration, design, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the overall Windows and VMware environments. Responsibility also includes managing Service Level Agreements, documentation, and policy/procedure compliance for IT systems related to Virtualized and Windows environments. Candidate required to have strong analysis and decision-making skills with the ability to conduct briefings, participate in technical cross-functional meetings, strong commitment to process, and understanding of change and configuration management principles. Candidate must be willing to provide 24/7 coverage (on-call rotation).
Responsibilities:
- Manage Windows infrastructure for performance tuning, capacity planning, and policy creation
- Designing and Administration of Windows systems running Microsoft Windows Server (2003, 2008 and 2012)
- Build and run scripts (Preferably PowerShell) to manage/automate tasks related to VMWare and Windows platforms
- Participate in after-hours weekly shifts that responds to business emergency requests
- Installations of new software and system upgrades including evaluation and installation of MS patches
- Resolve escalated issues from the IT Service Desk
- Actively monitor systems
- Weekly reporting as well as ad hoc reports when necessary
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 8+ years of operating systems experience. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Required Experience
The ideal candidate has/is:
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Widows Server 2003 and 2008
- Knowledge to design and maintain Windows core services
- Practical scripting knowledge to automate tasks and processes, PowerShell is preferred
- In-depth knowledge of VMware ESXi 4.x and vSphere 5.x. Able to architect, design, build, and maintain these platforms
- Knowledge and familiarity with blade architecture, specifically IBM Blade Centers
- Experience with backup solutions, particularly Tivoli Storage Manager
- Project Management skills to build and manage projects directly
- Outstanding customer service and time management skills
