SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (SATCOM) (Job Number:404175)
Description:
This position will provide engineering, analytical, logistics and technical support to Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC). Technical Support including providing the equipment and system expertise to aid in troubleshooting, repair, assessment analysis, inspection, root cause localization and identification, maintenance training, logistics configuration support, alteration development /installation, and/or long- term problem resolution related to the specific equipment type. Systems supported include Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I), antisubmarine warfare (ASW) and undersea warfare (USW) support, which includes but is not limited to, ventilation, cooling water, electrical, cable, and fiber.
Qualifications
:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of eight (8) years full-time hands-on technical experience within the last fifteen (15) years in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair Super High Frequency (SHF) Satellite Communications Equipment, Extremely High Frequency (EHF) Satellite Communications Equipment, NAVMACS II Message Processing System, and AN/SRQ-4 Radio Terminal Set used on U.S. Navy surface ships:
- SHF systems (WSC-6, WSC-8, CBSP)
- EHF systems (USC-38, NMT)
- NAVMACS II (SYQ-7A, SYQ-7B)
- SRQ-4Radio Terminal Set
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of four (4) years full-time engineering experience within the last 10 years in a supervisory capacity over technicians operating and maintaining the SATCOM systems. Experience performing engineering support services such as:
- Engineering change installations
- Technical assists
- Systems certifications
- INSURVs
- Material condition assessments
- Systems installations
Ability to interact with and lead multiple maintenance activities and effectively communicate technical information with senior engineers, technicians, Project Managers and Maintenance Team personnel. Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Must have excellent communication skills to interface with numerous Engineering and Trades organizations and work with minimal supervision. Good technical writing and organizational abilities are required.
