Description:
SAIC is seeking multiple individuals to execute a large, complex West Coast opportunity. The opportunity addresses modernizing and improving a large pension fund which is expect to significantly improve the administration of that fund for associated employers, members, participants and their beneficiaries.
SAIC will develop a new system solution via a phased approach while improving business processes and fostering organizational change. The SAIC team will provide all aspects of program management, system/software engineering, operations and maintenance, and training.
- Positions are contingent upon contract award.
- Positions will be based in West Sacramento, CA
Assistant Project Manager
The Assistant Project Manager (PM) will aid the PM in the general management and oversight of project planning, execution and closeout tasks. The Assistant PM will serve as a customer point-of-contact and will be responsible for working closely with the customer's designated Project Manager. The Assistant PM is accountable to the customer and SAIC upper management for project technical, schedule, and cost performance. The Assistant PM will ensure all contractual requirements are met and will serve as a driving force to achieve the project goals and objectives. Specific tasks include:
- Establish relationships with the customer and technical teams and clearly identify and manage interdependencies
- Oversee all project activities across both the technical development and business/process efforts
- Define release scope, schedule, deliverables in collaboration with customer and team leads
- Assign and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on-time and within budget
- Manage scope throughout the project duration maintaining accurate program estimates, timelines, work plans, and status reports
- Provide team leadership incorporating best practices and innovations into our products and development processes
- Attend customer meeting and in-progress reviews
- Allocate and manage staff and resources to maximize effectiveness and efficiency
- Create and maintain project management documentation and contract deliverables
- Understand, track and articulate issues and risks; work with responsible owners to address the items on a timely basis; update the appropriate audiences as needed
- Resolving conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies
Qualifications:
Desired Skills/Experience
- 5 years of pension system implementation experience
- 5+ years of project management experience
- Experience managing large legacy transformation efforts and high-performance software/system development teams
- Experience applying and tailoring industry standards and procedures
- Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Degree a plus
- PMP Certification a plus
